Dear Friend of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School,
For many, “Apostle” and “Disciple” are indistinguishable terms: it’s the label for those twelve men who followed Jesus and worked with him. Actually, the two terms have different meanings; the twelve apostles were chosen by Jesus to carry on the message after his departure (one meaning of apostle is “messenger”), and there were many other disciples who followed Jesus and the twelve from place to place.
There is an old song in the Christian tradition that helps us remember the names of the original twelve:
“There were twelve disciples Jesus called to help him, Simon Peter, Andrew, James, his brother John,
Philip, Thomas, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddeus, Simon Judas, and Bartholomew.
He has called us, too! He has called us, too! We are his disciples – I am one, and you.
He has called us, too! He has called us, too! We are his disciples – I am one, and you.”
Although we may forget, He has called us, too. We embody that succession of disciples who are called to carry out the work that Christ started on earth.
Our Lady of the Angels school is asking you to assemble now – as the apostles did then – and commit to spreading the message by supporting our 2020 Annual Appeal. Our goal for this year’s appeal is $40,000. Are you willing to live out your discipleship by making an investment in Our Lady of the Angels and the future of our students through financial support?
Your contribution to our Annual Appeal will enable Our Lady of the Angels School students to grow in their lives as individuals; as citizens; as Christian Disciples. Please help us to provide a quality education by developing the whole child – spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially and physically.
We look forward to your positive response to our Annual Appeal. May God bless you and guide you in your business and personal endeavors in the coming year!
With thanks for your kind consideration,
Mrs. Mandee L Sahd-Havrilla
